Dominion Energy and Smithfield Foods Break Ground on Record-Breaking RNG Project

On August 16, 2019, Dominion Energy and Smithfield Foods announced the ground-breaking on a new renewable energy project, slated to be the largest Renewable Natural Gas project to date in North Carolina.  The companies, via their joint venture as Align Renewable Natural Gas (RNG)^SM, expect to connect as many as 19 local farms in Duplin and Sampson counties.  The system will upgrade biogas from hog production to pipeline grade, and will provide an additional income stream to family farmers.
